Setting yourself up for a Successful Cleanse

Are you getting ready to start your cleanse and want to know how best to prepare? Preparation is essential when it comes to setting yourself up for a successful cleanse. There are a few simple things you can do to significantly improve your cleanse experience and the results you are looking to achieve. We’ve found that people who ease into their cleanse with a few days of pre-cleansing enjoy the process a lot more and experience better results.

Pre cleanse

What is a Pre-Cleanse

In order to properly prepare the body for a cleanse, it is necessary to eliminate the intake of hard-to-digest, toxic foods, and replace them with easy-to-digest, healthy foods. A Pre-Cleanse involves eliminating refined sugars and flour, animal products including dairy as well as processed and fried foods from your diet. We recommend Pre-Cleansing at least 1-3 days before starting your cleanse. Eat simple light foods such as steamed vegetables, soups or salads with lots of leafy greens and raw vegetables. If you are not such a clean eater, then give your body more time to prepare for your cleanse and take small steps towards cutting down on processed foods by gradually increasing the number of whole grains, fresh fruit and vegetables in your diet. By making these changes, you can ease the body from solid to liquids, without the typical shock to the system.

What to Expect on a Pre-Cleanse

If you lead a demanding and on-the-go stressful lifestyle or consume high quantities of caffeine, alcohol and processed foods, then it is possible that you may experience some cleansing reactions once you start your Pre-cleanse. Typical cleansing reactions include possible headaches, nausea, insomnia, foggy thinking and fatigue. If you remember to gradually reduce your intake of toxic foods rather than going cold turkey, then the symptoms of the Pre-cleanse should be mild or none existent. Once the initial withdrawal effects are out of the way, you may experience great clarity of thought, improved mental focus and heightened energy.

What to Avoid on a Pre-Cleanse

  • Alcohol
  • Caffeine
  • Soft drinks
  • Dairy
  • Gluten
  • Salt
  • Refined flour
  • Refined carbohydrates
  • Refined sugars
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • Animal Products
  • Processed foods
  • Junk food
  • Fried foods
  • Genetically modified foods
  • Nicotine

Choose the days or a week where extra work and social engagements will not distract you and possibly tempt you during your cleanse.

What Should You Eat on a Pre-Cleanse

  • Salads
  • Low Glycemic Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Superfoods
  • Herbs & Spices
  • Seaweeds
  • Juices
  • Smoothies
  • Fermented foods
  • Good Fats
  • Oily Organic Fish
  • Organic Quinoa

During your Pre-cleanse, drink as much filtered water as possible and load up on natural foods.

Pre Cleanse

TIP: If you can’t pronounce the ingredient on a product or don’t know what it is, chances are your body won’t know what to do with it either, and you are adding to your toxic burden (unless of course, it’s a superfood). So be careful of junk that is disguised as a health food with labels like “natural” and other trick marketing buzzwords.

We wish you all the best on your Cleanse journey. It truly is a wonderful investment for your overall level of health and vitality.

Interview with Mishka Patel, Juiced Co Ambassador

We are delighted that Mishka Patel, one of our most well-known South African models and TV Presenters, is part of the Juiced Co family by being one of our Ambassadors.

With hard work, motivation, clear goals and a drive for success, Mishka is recognised not only as a television presenter and model but as a motivational speaker, emcee, health and fitness enthusiast and business owner.

Juicing is very much part of Mishka’s daily routine; whether it be cleansing or simply as a meal replacement and the team at Juiced Co are honoured to have her on board as our Brand Ambassador.

We receive questions on a daily basis regarding juicing, including items in one’s daily routine, as well as the cleansing process. With this in mind, we compiled some questions for our avid juicer, Mishka, to share her experiences and advice.

Why is juice cleansing such a big part of your life?

It’s about how it makes me feel in my mind, my body and soul. It’s about how I feel during, as well as after the juice cleanse that’s gotten me hooked.

Currently, how often would you say you cleanse and is there any specific juicing regime that you follow?

I drink one juice or smoothie a day, sometimes as a meal replacement, and I’ll go on a cleanse once every 2nd or 3rd month. It’s all dependent on when my body needs it. If I could, I’d cleanse once a month.

What’s your advice for people wanting to boost their health and aim for a healthier lifestyle?

Incorporate a juice a day. You literally get a mixture of different fruits and vegetables to keep your energy up and body healthy! One juice a day is what I’d suggest.

Are you able to exercise while on a juice cleanse?

Absolutely. I love training, especially while juicing. I have done a 7-day cleanse while doing a 30-day fitness challenge. I never struggled with energy or fatigue, but to each their own. For some it might be harder than for others. I do suggest training while juicing, perhaps ease into it at first.

What advice would you give to someone who is new to juicing?

If you don’t try, you won’t know. It’s such a life-changer! Eating well is a form of self-respect in my opinion, and since incorporating juice into my daily routine, focusing on what I feed my body and doing a cleanse every once in a while, I am healthier than I have ever been.

There are so many explanations on the benefits of juicing and what it does for your mind body and soul. Can you give us a more personal insight on the benefits of juicing that you experience?

Clarity. I always feel focused and determined during a cleanse. A healthier and happier life starts from the inside out, so whenever I feel drained, tired or if I experience a lot of migraines, I know it’s time for a cleanse.

During your cleanse do you feel hungry or experience any cravings?

Sometimes I do yes, but I always remain focused on the mission.

From your experience does juice cleansing aid in weight loss?

I have never done a juice cleanse for weight loss, but after each cleanse I have done before, I have always dropped a kg or 2. I have done a cleanse with a friend who’s lost 4kg while doing a 5-day cleanse, but she also trained hard during her cleanse, while another friend hadn’t lost any weight. I think it differs for everyone.

With a variety of flavoured juices to pick from which Juiced Co juice is an absolute must have for you?

I love the smoothies (especially berry nut!)! My favourite juices, however, has to be the Immunity, Shine, Happy, Recharge and Radiate!

Do you have any pre-juice cleanse advice?

Slow down with the coffee, processed foods and candy. A few days (about 5 days) before doing a cleanse, start preparing mentally and physically for what’s about to happen, rather than shocking your body. I’d say, start with drinking more water, drinking fewer cups of coffee and cutting out sugar, slowly but surely. It makes the cleanse easier.

What are some of the symptoms that can be expected during a cleansing program?

I personally experienced headaches. But that’s about it. I am not a coffee drinker, but I do drink about 4 cups of green tea a day. I also do not smoke, so it had to be my body not being used to ‘no green tea’. Some people do feel tired the first and second day, but it does get better!

Can a juice cleanse help break some bad dietary habits?

YES! I have heard some great success stories, even one including someone who stopped drinking alcohol after a juice cleanse, as well as someone who was so impressed, she stopped smoking, for good!

Would you recommend a 1-day, 3-day, 5-day, 7-day or 10-day cleanse?

All of the above. But for starters, people new to the juicing, start with a 3day cleanse. I personally haven’t tried a 1-day yet, but would love to just to see the results.

And there you have it! We hope these answers have been helpful and should you have any more questions please feel free to send them through to us via joy@juicedco.co.za or dyl@juicedco.co.za.

Benefits Of Adding Soup To Your Cleanse.

Many things that we encounter on a daily basis contain a wide variety of unnatural substances that penetrate into our cells by way of our lungs, digestive system, and even our skin. A change in diet is the most drastic method of detoxification, and juicing is the best way to speed and heighten this process.
For those of you who are new to juicing congratulations on taking the initiative in pursuing a healthier, more nutritious and well-balanced lifestyle. We know juice cleansing can be tough, especially if you are new to the concept. Some people find the thought of drinking only juices slightly daunting if not impossible, and that’s okay, because here at Juiced Co we’ve got you covered with our Juice & Soup cleanse.
Soup cleansing is the new buzz in the juicing world. And It’s a fantastic addition to your juice cleanse, especially during the winter period when we crave something warmer in our bodies. Our Juice & Soup Cleanse offers you a natural food sourced gentle cleanse whilst still packing in all the nutritious ingredients.

5 Reasons to add soup to your Juice Cleanse

Soup, on the other hand, satisfies and energises your body making it easier for your mind to handle.

3. Loaded with Veg
Souping packs benefits of vegetables, herbs and spices such as turmeric and Coconut Oil. All of which maintains your blood sugar levels low and your energy levels high. Perfect if you have a busy lifestyle.

4. Keep Hunger at Bay
Cooked foods are much easier to digest than raw foods which in turn means you won’t have that hungry feeling straight after your meal.

5. Grounding Benefits
Plenty of people still prefer juicing as the results for weight loss, for example, can be much quicker, however, souping is ideal if you are a cleansing newbie or if you have a full-on schedule that you feel your body couldn’t cope on just juice.

COLD PRESSED JUICE

Cold Pressed Juice, Juiced Blog

What’s the difference between Centrifugal and Cold Press Juice Pressing and what are the benefits of Cold Pressed Juicing?

There are two main types of juicers; The traditional Centrifugal juicer and the new kid on the block being the Cold Pressed Juicer. Although both machines provide fresh juice, they operate differently, resulting in notable differences in the finished product.

The most widely available electric juicers are centrifugal juicers. These juicers use a fast-spinning metal blade that as the name suggests uses centrifugal force to separate fruit and vegetable juice from the flesh. The problem with centrifugal juicers is that the fast spinning action of the blade creates friction and heat which can destroy nutrients and enzymes from fruits and vegetables. The juice extracted from centrifugal juicers also separates and oxidises much faster. This oxidation causes your juice to begin losing nutrients minutes after juicing. The pulp extracted from these juicers is a lot wetter, yielding much less juice than a Cold Press Juicer. This method of juicing also struggles to extract juice from leafy greens, such as spinach, wheatgrass and kale which are some of the most nutritious and healthiest greens you can juice with.

Cold Press Juicers operate at a very low speed, slowly squeezing the juice out of fruits and vegetables. Many health-conscious people prefer cold-press juicers to centrifugal juicers because they operate at such low speeds generating no heat which effectively retains all the enzymes and nutrients in fruits and vegetables.

Because no heat is applied during the extraction process, the low level of oxidation results in a juice that is flavorful, colourful and nutrient-rich.

Cold pressed juice does not oxidise quickly and can last for up to 72 hours in the refrigerator. The pulp that is produced is also much drier, meaning that the maximum amount of juice has been extracted from fruits and vegetables.

Cold Pressed Juice Benefits:

  • Cold pressed juice yields a smooth and pulp-free juice.
  • The cold pressed juice method extracts 5 times more nutrients and enzymes vs a centrifugal juicer.
  • The low speed creates no friction and no heat, preserving enzymes and nutrients.
  • Juice is extracted from the pulp with no oxidation.
  • Juice is fully blended with minimal separation.
  • Great for fans of green juicing.
  • Longer shelf life.

At Juiced Co, we offer a range of 100% natural cold pressed juices that are well-balanced, nutrient-rich and a great way to kick start a healthy diet. All our products are free of stabilisers, additives and preservatives.

Why do we Cleanse and the benefits of Juice Cleanses?

Most of us wash our hands many times a day to remove dirt, food residue and potential bacteria. We soap and scrub our bodies regularly to remove dead skin cells, sweat, bacteria and dirt. It only makes sense to clean the inside of our bodies to help remove unprocessed food material, fiber, environmental pollutants and other debris, and to expel these same items that may be stashed in cells throughout the body. It is the buildup of all these toxins in our body that leave us feeling tired and lethargic. In order for us to think clearly and to reach our highest potential, we need to release these toxins and give room for nutrients to be absorbed. Your liver, kidney and colon are under constant stress having to process these toxins so it’s important to give your body a rest from the constant digestion of solids.

By cleansing the body, you free up your organs to function the way they should. It’s like hitting a reset button for your body. It will help to increase your energy levels, balance your hormones, improve digestion, give your adrenals a much-needed break, help break cravings and leave you feeling rejuvenated.

A Juicing Cleanse provides you with all the essential nutrients your body needs to stay healthy while also maximising the removal of toxins and impurities from the body. The live enzymes, vitamins, and minerals found in the juices bind with harmful toxins and carry them out of the body, helping you look and feel great! It’s like taking a shot of instant nutritional goodness and the effects thereafter leave you with a new-found energy. Your skin will glow. You will sleep better. Your digestion system is drastically improved and inflammation in the body is reduced. Overall you will feel better both physically and mentally.

Simply put, juice cleansing is spring cleaning the body. That also entails, no added sugar, no preservatives and no stabilisers, just 100% goodness. So, push the reset button on your body today with Juiced Co for 100% natural cold pressed juices for a refreshed, renewed and rebalanced body. Whether you are cleansing for your general health, for that big day, for an upcoming holiday, for convenience, for clean energy and a boost of nutrients from a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, our cold pressed juice cleanses are a simple way to detoxify and spring clean the body at a cellular level.
