CARA- Lisa Sham
Having been a devoted ballet and contemporary dancer for 17 years, proper nutrition, exercise, and a balanced lifestyle became an integral part of my life from a very early age. Learning about health and wellness has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. From reading numerous nutrition and fitness text books, research and articles, to sampling a variety of exercises and testing out different eating plans along the way, I have built up significant knowledge about health and wellness…and more importantly, I really know what works! I believe that the knowledge and experience I have gained through living “by the book” as I have for the past 14 years has more than equipped me with the ability to share helpful information and techniques with others who are looking to improve their own health and wellbeing. To further my knowledge and take my offering to the next level, I have enrolled in a part-time course for Clinical Nutrition, which I aim to complete within the next two years.
I have three degrees: an undergraduate, an honours and a master’s degree in industrial psychology (all cum laude) from the University of the Witwatersrand, all specialising in workplace wellness.
Having practiced as an organisational behaviour specialist, I have been closely exposed to workplace wellness. I have worked on numerous wellness interventions and have provided employee counselling, nutritional and fitness education, and coaching to various corporate clients.

Small Town girl turned TV Presenter. Motivational Speaker. Emcee. Health and Fitness Enthusiast. Entrepreneur, business Owner and Ambassador.
Mishka Patel is a 28 year old woman from a small town called Idasvalley in Stellenbosch. She is living proof that anyone can overcome any circumstances. At a young age of 25 she achieved quite a few titles ranging from being a Miss South Africa 2014 top 12 Finalist, Miss Veet 2014 runner-up, Miss Earth South Africa 2014 Top10 Finalist and a Top 10 Finalist on Presenter Search on 3, which landed her a presenting Job on SABC3 and her current TV Presenter Title as a Pasella TV Presenter on SABC 2.
Her reasons as to WHY she does what she does her response was:
‘I aspire to inspire young girls to be the BEST version of themselves.’
Coming from a small disadvantaged community, she was surrounded by people who wanted her to think like they think: Small. ‘I knew from a young age that I wanted something different for my life. That I have bigger dreams that everyone else, but that I wanted them to dream WITH me. I knew I had a gift to inspire other young women to live each day to its fullest.’
The journey to discovering who she was started at a young age. She took part in everything at school. From Drama classes, Debating, Toast Masters, being on the Eco committee – To trying out all sports she could (side note: She was not good at any Sports! At least she tried.). She never knew where she quite saw herself after school, she went from one friend ‘group’ to another, never really knowing where she really ‘fits in’. – The journey wasn’t a pleasant one- but as the saying goes: We all live and we learn.
Her journey took her to discover her love for the Youth, Business, Education and Television. It led her to start her own success classes at underprivileged schools in Stellenbosch, doing various amounts of charity work, co-owning a production company, doing motivational and public speaking, emceeing and being a television presenter.
